Starbucks launches new $5 and $6 value meals with food and beverage pairing

Starbucks is hopping on the value meal bandwagon with a new discounted pairing offer. The coffee giant will launch its Pairings Menu on June 11.
The coffee chain is following several fast food chains, like Burger King, McDonald’s, and Wendys. During a time of rising menu prices, the strategy aims to bring back lower income customers.
There are some limited-time drinks at Starbucks right now, including new Summer-Berry Refresher. The beverage features a sweet and summery blend of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry flavors poured over raspberry flavored pearls.
This option will enable customers to choose a beverage and food item at a reduced price. The $5 deal includes any tall coffee, either iced or hot, accompanied by a butter croissant.
The $6 deal offers the same drink choices, but it can be paired with a savory breakfast. Options include the Sausage, Cheddar, and Egg Sandwich or the Turkey Bacon, Cheddar, and Egg White Sandwich.
Starbucks joins a host of restaurants that have started offering value meals. Arby’s recently rolled out a $5 chicken wrap deal, which comes in three flavors: Ranch, BBQ, and Honey Mustard.
McDonald’s is set to start offering a $5 meal at the end of June.Customers will have the choice of a McChicken, a McDouble, or a four-piece chicken nugget, served with fries and a drink.
However, this offer will only be available for a limited period.
Fast food menus have been impacted by inflation, with prices soaring 29 percent between 2019 and 2023, according to Tasting Table. The introduction of value meals is a strategy to win back customers who may have opted for cheaper alternatives due to the price increases.
